During our year together we will study a variety of book genres, grammar rules, and vocabulary, focusing on themes, motifs, and symbols in literature. Students will also explore what makes a successful reader/writer through work with the three text types: narrative, expository, and argument. In addition to the 7th grade blog, students are part of our class’ Google Classroom online learning platform. This is where they can find information and resources on what we are doing in class and where they will turn in writing assignments.

Our first unit will be writing and reading informational texts. We will be using the lens of the mid-term election to discuss fact vs. opinion, citing sources, and evidence based writing practices.
