ELA

During our year together we will study a variety of book genres, grammar rules, and vocabulary, focusing on themes, motifs, and symbols in literature. Students will also explore what makes a successful reader/writer through work with the three text types: narrative, expository, and argument. In addition to the 7th grade blog, students are part of our class’ Google Classroom online learning platform. This is where they can find information and resources on what we are doing in class and where they will turn in writing assignments.

Check back periodically to see current examples of student work or scroll down to find links for suggestions on independent reading. You can also look below to see what Mr. Des Marais is reading right now!

Our current unit is Personal Narratives. We will be assessing our knowledge using the following Personal Narrative Rubric. Please ask your student to show you their pre-assessment on google classroom to see where they where at the beginning of the unit.

Mini-lessons for this unit can be found on the Writer’s Notebook Page.
